SCHOOLS

It’s so much more than just fun!

The government-funded PE and Sport Premium for primary schools aims to help schools support healthier, more active lifestyles. One of the recommendations is that this funding be used to ‘introduce new sports or activities and encourage more pupils to take up sport’.

Working with you, Clip ‘n Climb Nottingham can provide healthy and active learning opportunities for children and young people. Creating opportunities for your students to participate in challenging, exciting and rewarding activities. Helping young people of all ages and abilities to access an exercise programme within a fun, friendly and inclusive environment.

There are many health benefits associated with climbing which are summarised below. We highly recommend reading the article ‘Health benefits of rock climbing’, which can be found on the NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk

Physical health benefits

      Low impact, full-body workout

Improves flexibility, balance, stamina and coordination

Improves muscle strength and develops fine and gross motor skills

Mental health benefits

      Stress relief, problem-solving and concentration

      Builds confidence and self-esteem

Encourages peer support, communication and teamwork

Research shows how climbing can particularly benefit children and adults with additional needs, especially for those on the autistic spectrum or with co-ordination disorders such as dyspraxia.
